The other night, I watched Netflix's NOT so goody good fairytale movie DAMSEL - starring Millie Bobby Brown, Ray Winstone, Angela Bassett and Robin Wright.
FIRST! I wouldn't watch the trailer...I feel it shows a lot of the movie. 😎
So. WHAT'S THE MOVIE ABOUT?
Millie Bobby Brown plays Princess "The Damsel" Elodie - who agrees to marry the handsome Prince Henry (Nick Robinson) in order to help her father and her people survive another winter. (lots of gold!) But later finds out that the Queen has other plans...the Queen has tricked her!! She is to be sacrificed....to repay an ancient debt...a debt to a freaking dragon! A dragon who loves breathing fire on folks. Once Elodie meets this lovely (I'm a fan of dragons) and scary dragon - she's determined to escape this underground cave, inside this huge mountain.
WHAT DID I THINK OF THE MOVIE?
I really liked most of it. I everything till the end.
Ok. I thought Millie Bobby Brown did great! I'd watch anything she's in. I thought her being a "I an't taking shit!" Princess was bad ass.
I loved the dragon and her scary voice. As a parent, I even felt the dragon's pain and reason why she liked burning folks.
I even liked the different characters - I thought the cast and story was dope.. DAMSEL definitely gave me DRAGONSLAYER (1981) vibes. (If you haven't watched it - please do)
I really liked DAMSEL.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE and call me weird. Was the very ending. It's how Princess Elodie looked after the whole deal. It's like they put a SnapChat filter on her...like full on makeup. I know, I know...it's weird. I just wished she would have looked more "I've been through hell and back and I'm ready to whoop some ass!!"
Other than that little thing - I enjoyed the movie.
Would I watch it again? Probably not. But I did like it.
