“This song was a journey, starting on my piano at 16, evolving through my life's experiences,” Bu shared. “It's about understanding the impact of our upbringing on our identities and challenging the expectations placed upon us. 'Come For Me' is my musical rebellion, a declaration of independence from inherited ideals, wrapped in the complexities of a high school crush."
“Come For Me” follows the bold first track from the EP “Viceversa,” a melodically rich song that blends eerie vocal effects with arpeggiators to create a haunting yet enthralling sound. Released alongside a self-directed music video, the track juxtaposes natural and electronic elements and incorporates literary references, including a nod to Gabriel García Márquez's "One Hundred Years of Solitude."

Drop by When You Drop Dead is a collection of six tracks highlighting Bu's years of musical evolution and experimentation. The EP features lyrics in English, Spanish, and Italian, showcasing the rich diversity of cultures that have shaped her musical identity. As the daughter of renowned filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón, Bu was encouraged to explore her creative talents from a young age, learning to play the piano at four, writing her own songs at 11, and producing her own music at 13. Influenced by artists such as Jessie Reyez, Tyler, the Creator, Frank Ocean, and James Blake, Bu’s sound defies conventional pop structures, blending electronic indie pop with hip-hop and acoustic elements.

Each track on the EP offers a glimpse into Bu's diverse musical palette, taking listeners on a journey through varied musical landscapes, all marked by her signature experimental touch. Bu’s approach to music-making—"learning the rules so well that you have to break them"—is evident throughout the EP, which represents the many sides of her artistic identity, inviting listeners to experience the depth and breadth of her creative vision.

Drop By When You Drop Dead is Bu's first music project since the release of 2019's "Psycho," which NPR said exhibited “wisdom and feelings well beyond her age.” The song was featured on the album Music Inspired by the Film Roma, a collection of songs inspired by her father’s Oscar-nominated movie, ROMA.
